Teleo was awarded the project to design and construct a pedestrian bridge over the Merri River along Wellington St in 2016. Teleo undertook a design of the bridge as galvanised steel to give a design life of 100 years.

 

The construction of the bridge footing was completed using local civil contractors. Teleo worked with the contractors to finish the footings in time for the bridge to be installed.

 

The bridge is 22m long by 2.4m wide with FRP decking system and modular handrailing. The installation included passing the bridge under the power lines and then lifting the complete bridge onto the footings.

 

The scope of supply included constructing the approach paths complying with the gradient requirements for DDA access.

 

The bridge was installed in June 2016 with the paths completed in August following heavy rains that resulted in the Merri river reaching 1:100 year flood level.
